Announcement...

Christ Lutheran, Allentown to host

"Advocacy Afternoon"

Sunday, Nov. 9, LAMPa staff will be visiting with members of the Lehigh Mission District interested in learning more about Advocacy ministry in the ELCA and how they can be involved.  Persons interested in attending this time of fellowship, education, and conversation should RSVP to Marissa Harris, LAMPa Advocacy Developer (mharris@lamp.org; 717-545-3500), or Sister Amy Jahn de Torrez, Deaconess at Christ Lutheran (amyjahn@gmail.com; 610-433-4271), by Thursday, Nov. 6.  Lunch will be served.  Join us at 12:30 pm (or as soon as late morning worship services are complete).  We will conclude around 2:30 pm.

Topics to be discussed will include:

·   What is LAMPa and what makes it unique?

·   What is Advocacy and why is it an important part of the Lutheran faith?

·   How is Advocacy different at the local, state, and federal levels and why is it important to engage each level?

·   What does being part of LAMPa look like at the local level?

·    What issues has LAMPa been working on in 2008 and what will we be working on in the near future?
