Faithful Reform in Health Care
provides two new resources
and promotes Nationwide Faith Call-in Day
Health Care is not
just an issue...it's a Faith issue
Faithful Reform in Health Care, of which
the ELCA is a member, has recently released two short
resource guides to help advocates discern how health
reform proposals currently before Congress measure up
to a faith inspired vision. While recognizing that none
of the plans are perfect, these guides will help you
better understand this very complex debate. These
new resources can be found on
LAMPa's "Faith-inspired Vision of Health Care" website
on the bottom right corner.
Also new to
our site is the fifth and final installment of
three new resources (newsletter
article, bulletin insert, and promotional summary) in
our five part summer series. This month's resources are
centered around the fourth faith inspired reform
principle: Accountability.
Other principles include
Accessibility, Affordability, and Inclusivity. It's
NOT too late to start using these resources in your
congregation!
Today, Faithful
Reform in Health Care is partnering with many faith
groups, including the ELCA, to promote a
Nationwide Faith Call-in Day. In just about 5
minutes, you can add your voice and together we can make
a big impact. If we all use the same number,
1-888-797-8717, we'll be able to calculate just how
large our witness really is! Remember, you can
call anytime today and leave a message - you do not have
to call during regular business hours.
Below are the Tips for a Successful
Phone Call, sent out today from the ELCA Washington
Office. Please do not hesitate to be in touch with
LAMPa staff or Mr. Robert Francis (Director of Domestic
Policy for the ELCA
robert.francis@elca.org)
with any questions. As always, if you have a minute,
we'd love to hear a short report of how you felt about
your advocacy efforts!
Already been in touch with your
Representative and Senators Casey and Specter? There's
still plenty to do! Stay tuned for information in the
coming weeks about writing Letters to the Editors and
participating in community educational events!
