Lutheran Advocacy Ministry in PA

Greetings in the name of the risen Christ!

Lutheran Advocacy Ministry of Pennsylvania (LAMPa) is excited to announce the new Ambassador Ministry! As we anticipate the challenges of an unusually difficult economy, LAMPa would like to invite you to join in an expanded, intentional ministry to reach out to every member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly on a quarterly basis.  The goal of this new endeavor, which we are calling the LAMPa Ambassadors Ministry, is to be in personal contact with your state lawmakers a minimum of four times a year – making them aware of the commitment of Pennsylvanian Lutherans to their baptismal call to justice through legislative action.

We hope you will prayerfully consider this call to become a LAMPa Ambassador, one of our faith community’s “go to” people on behalf of the disenfranchised in Pennsylvania As a LAMPa ambassador, you would:

  • Be in regular, intentional contact with your State Representative and Senator by taking one concrete action every three months: either in a face-to-face meeting, a phone call, a letter, a postcard, or speaking out in a public forum where your representative is present.

  • Review and respond to most ACTIONET alerts, engaging LAMPa staff with any questions, comments, or concerns.

  • Make every effort to participate in the annual Lutheran Day at the Capitol, this year being held on Tuesday, May 12th.

  • Occasionally participate in town hall meetings, candidate forums or similar events.

  • Encourage others in your congregation to also contact their elected officials about LAMPa priorities, directing them to LAMPa for any necessary information.

Ambassadors will also have the option of recruiting other ambassadors to join this ministry!

If you accept, the LAMPa staff will be walking right beside you with basic training, providing each of you with the resources you need to be an effective Ambassador for justice in Pennsylvania.

To say “Yes,” simply hit reply and let us know you're interested!  If you are not able to be an Ambassador at this time, but know of someone who might be interested, let us know that as well.

Remember, it’s “God’s work, our hands” – and we need all hands involved!

May the Lord’s blessings be upon you as you prayerfully consider this call to service.

Sincerely,

Marissa Harris
