Marissa Harris Krey
Advocacy Developer
Marissa Harris Krey is a native of Roanoke, Virginia and a life-long Lutheran. As an
undergraduate, she was an active member of Lutheran Campus
Ministry at
Virginia
Tech. It was there,
as well as through her leadership involvement in Lutheran
Student Movement-USA, that she was introduced to ELCA advocacy.
After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Virginia Tech with majors in political science and
history in 2005, Marissa
began her theological education.
In 2006-2007 she did field education work at
the Lutheran Office of Governmental Ministries in
New Jersey.
Other highlights of her seminary education include globalization
trips to Israel/Palestine, El
Salvador, and Switzerland.
In 2008 Marissa graduated from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia with a Master
of Divinity. She joined the LAMPa staff in April 2008.
On December 28, 2009, Marissa married The Rev. Benjamin Krey, pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Philadelphia. She
and Ben now live in Philadelphia.
Marissa’s LAMPa work emphasizes LAMPa’s advocacy
network development and coordination. If you would like to grow
