Join the National Faith Community
Call Tomorrow with Special Guest
President Obama
President Obama has accepted an
invitation to be on a conference call
with people of faith nationwide to
discuss
health care reform.
Please join thousands of people of
faith, national faith leaders, and
President Obama on this National Faith
Community Call on Wednesday, August 19,
at 5:00 pm eastern (4pm
Central/3pm Mountain/2pm Pacific).
Call-in number:
1-347-996-5501 / No passcode
required (long
distance charges may apply)
The call will provide a chance to inform
people about what
health reform means for families,
share ways that people can make a
difference, ask the
White House specific questions
about issues that are high priorities
for the faith community, and hear
directly from President Obama at this
critical moment.
Health reform continues to dominate the
news, and people on all sides of the
debate are using this month to make
their voices heard. The ELCA has not
endorsed any particular
health care reform bill, but the
ELCA’s social statement on health and
health care,
Caring for Health: Our Shared Endeavor,
makes it clear that “we of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
have an enduring commitment to work for
and
support health care for all
people as a shared endeavor.”
Please set aside 40 minutes to join tens
of thousands of people of faith who
share your interest in health care
reform. You can also RSVP for the call
through
Faithful Reform in Health Care
one of our partners in the
health care reform effort.
This call is open to the public, so
please circulate the information broadly
via email,
Facebook,
Twitter, fliers, and word of
mouth to get the word out.
